Supporters had hoped Buckhead voters will be able to decide whether to leave Atlanta in a referendum in November 2022. The number of registered voters in the city increased by 110,000 in four years. The ballot initiative comes despite the General Assembly's decision to not take up the issue this legislative session, essentially shooting down Buckhead's opportunity to officially secede from Atlanta any time soon.
